NAWIC History
Our Approach
The National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) originally began as Women in Construction of Fort Worth, Texas. Sixteen women working in the construction industry founded it in 1953. Knowing that women represented only a small fraction of the construction industry, the founders organized the support network.
The original chapter was so successful that it gained its national charter in 1955 and became the National Association of Women in Construction.

Our Story
The NAWIC Northwest Arkansas Chapter held a kickoff meeting in 2017 hosting over 100 women at Stribling Equipment to gauge the interest in starting a chapter. Obviously, there was an interest, so the chapter was born. There were many eager volunteers to lead the chapter in its infancy. The Chapter held their chartering ceremony in July 2018 with over 60 people in attendance. We had nine board members sworn in as the first NAWIC NWA Board of Directors.
