SUMMARY:NAWIC Fruition of a Project | Osage Park Tour & Happy Hour
DESCRIPTION:Tour of Osage Park with the EDG to learn the behind the scenes process of bringing a project concept to fruition. Followed by a Happy Hour!\n\n\nOSAGE PARK \nOsage Park is an urban park designed as the recreational destination location in Bentonville\, Arkansas. It’s preserved and enhanced wetland system acts as a ‘soft infrastructure’ that soaks up and filters stormwater; slowly releasing it\, decreasing flooding downstream\, and improving water quality. \nThe Osage Park design team lead by Martin Smith\, (EDG Principal & OK State Alumni) studied in depth the watershed\, ecology and natural systems of this site prior to implementing the design strategies. The design was orchestrated in harmonious fashion with the pavilion\, natural wetland system along with the passive and active programming for the project. \nExisting wetlands created by beavers were already providing habitat for many species on site\, including several of conservation concern. These wetlands also slowed stormwater runoff\, improved water quality\, helped recharge groundwater aquifers\, and reduce flooding downstream. There was a conscious effort to expand and integrate the park with the beaver wetlands and create a connection to Lake Bentonville increasing these benefits. The preservation of the flooded beaver wetlands provides a firsthand look at a delicate wetland system and educates visitors on the importance of the wetlands in an urban watershed. \n_____________________________________________ \nECOLOGICAL DESIGN GROUP | EDG | ecologicaldg.com \nEcological Design Group\, Inc. is a small business by choice\, recognizing our passion and commitment to the re-connectivity of our community to the landscape. Over the past century\, our natural ecological systems have been fragmented due to development and the introduction of industrial agriculture. The seamless connectivity from one system to another no longer exists and has been replaced by sterile environments requiring an abundance of energy and natural resources to maintain. \n \n_________________ : : HAPPY HOUR AT BENTONVILLE BREWING CO FOLLOWING THE TOUR : : _________________

SUMMARY:NWA NAWIC Meeting - ElevateHER
DESCRIPTION:Come to learn how to approach the AEC industry’s recruiting & retention challenges in order to stabilize\, flourish\, & grow!\n\n\n“ElevateHER: A path to a more engaged\, sustainable workforce”\n \n \nThe path to building companies that better reflect the clients and communities that we serve is an effort that we at Zweig Group have invested energy and resources to address since the launch of ElevateHer as a way to combat the AEC industry’s recruiting and retention challenges. The additional challenges of 2020 truly have the potential to set this important work back if we do not take seriously the genuine fissures in our workforce and workplace practices. The firm that can find opportunity in the circumstance\, though\, will be remembered for how they responded as entrepreneurs\, leaders\, and humans for years to come.\n \n \nThe decisions firm leaders make today will determine the talent available to the industry for the next professional generation. The lessons learned from previous crises tell us that there is a very real threat that diversity and inclusion programs are at risk for receding from the forefront as a strategic priority for organizations unintentionally as companies focus on basic needs to transition to the “new normal\,” which could cripple organizations – and\, indeed\, the entire AEC industry – in the future as they seek to stabilize\, flourish\, and grow.\n \n \nPresenter: Jamie Claire Kiser\, Managing Principal\, Zweig Group

SUMMARY:NAWIC November Meeting - Wed. Nov. 11th
DESCRIPTION:Are you ready to close the gap between dreaming and doing?\nAre you doing so much you have lost hope in your dream?\n\n\n\nAre you ready to take back your time and attention? \n \nIn today’s fast paced\, immediate access\, attention economy\, it’s easy to get caught up in everyone else’s agenda and needs. \n \nHuman knowledge once doubled every thousand years. Today\, it’s every twelve hours. No wonder we feel frustrated\, anxious\, and overwhelmed. We’ve been hacked! \n \nA “hack” is when someone or something gains unauthorized access to a computer or a system. Humans get hacked too. It happens millions of times a day. Your focus is the prize—and they’ll hack you to get it. A pandemic election year is possibly the straw that has broken your tolerance for more. \n \nHow can you take back your time\, increase your peace\, and refine your focus? \n \nWhat about your agenda and needs? YOUR dreams\, goals\, and desires? \n \nYou must become Unhackable. \n \nBased on the best selling book\, UNHACKABLE: CLOSE THE GAP BETWEEN DREAMING AND DOING by Kary Oberbrunner\, Daphne V. Smith\, one of Kary’s Top 100 Certified Coaches will teach you how to: \n \n•	Understand the value in the right kind of struggle \n•	Learn to release tension \n•	Achieve a state of flow \n•	Allow recovery in order to rest and rebuild \n \nEvery sustainable advance requires these four phases. With clarity and implementation taking back your time\, energy and attention is possible. \n \n> > > > ABOUT DAPHNE V. SMITH < < < < \nDecades of experience in the corporate world\, wellness industry\, ministerial field\, and direct sales provide Daphne with the ability to identify with a vast range of ages\, experiences\, and types of people. Presently a retreat facilitator\, life coach\, speaker and author of “What’s YOUR Scarlet Letter?”. \n \nChallenging her clients and audiences to grow\, she believes in and lives a life of design instead of default. “When I stop learning\, I stop growing.” \n \nResiding in Northwest Arkansas for over 20 years\, she has experienced growth in both her community and in herself. The oldest of three girls from a highly fun yet dysfunctional environment\, Daphne learned to rise to the occasion early in life. As a wife and mother\, she continues to strive to become the best person she can be. “If I stop and compare myself to someone else\, we both lose. I prefer instead to be the best me possible.” \n \nHer professional credentials and accomplishments include: \n – 3 time car winner with Mary Kay Cosmetics \n – Certifications from: \n – The Cooper Institute for Aerobic Research \n – The American Association of Christian Counselors \n – John Maxwell \n – Wired That Way Personality Assessments \n – And is a Master Level Igniting Souls Coach \n \nDaphne encourages women of all ages to be wave makers by clearing their crap\, embracing who and whose they are\, establishing their own priorities and values\, and equipping themselves to live the life they were uniquely and purposely created to experience. Living this way in turn gives others permission to do the same resulting in a better world for us all. “If you’re still breathin’\, it’s for a reason.”

Porches and storefronts connect to shared sidewalks and paths\, inviting a familiarity that makes neighbors in the truest sense. Parks\, plazas and greens invite impromptu Frisbee tossing and offer comfortable places to gather with friends over a glass of wine. You can unwind from the workday with a bike ride or a walk to nearby shops\, restaurants and welcoming outdoor spaces. It was for active people who actually enjoy getting to know the neighbors. And at the neighborhood’s center is the Square that connects everyone\, creating a wonderful sense of community. \n* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * \n  \nIf someone forwarded this email invitation and you’d like to receive these meeting invitation emails directly and to join the emailing list\, please email Hallie.Bussman@caddell.com.  This step is not necessary if you received the invitation from NWA NAWIC Chapter .
